State and territory governments are responsible for responding to threats in their jurisdiction. Each government has different emergency and counter-terrorism plans.
They all have a responsibility to:
- maintain policies and plans
- manage counter-terrorism agencies
- work with the federal government on national terrorist situations
- contribute to the national response.
